NCASA Weekly Update: 8/27

Principals and Scholastic Directors,

We trust that your school year is off to a great start! NCASA has many important items to share with you. Please take the time to view each section.

School Membership:

If you haven't done so already, please take a moment to enroll your school in NCASA membership. All schools that want to participate in a competition must enroll. Please use the form on This Page to do so.

Payment:

LEAs that we have received payments from as of 8/26: Yadkin, Surry, Iredell-Statesville, Nash, Newton-Conover, Cumberland, Robeson, Roanoke Rapids City Schools, and Cabarrus.

Individual schools we have received payments from as of 8/26: Jay M Robinson and Mount Airy Middle School

LEAs - If you need us to generate a new invoice for you, please let us know! We can send that out to you immediately.

If your LEA typically pays for your entire district and you don't see them listed above, please give your districts a few more weeks to do so and then reach out to them to find out what their plans are. If they are not able to pay the membership fee this year, then your school will be required to make that payment in order to participate in NCASA competitions. We can create an invoice for you. Cost for middle schools and high schools is $300 + ($0.25 x 10-day enrollment number) and cost for elementary schools is $200.

Important items regarding Quiz Bowl:

Registration for the Virtual Quiz Bowl League, which begins on September 29th, is now available. This is for High School and Middle School teams. You may register your schools here: NCASA Virtual Quiz Bowl Registration. There will be an Elementary level (grades 4th and 5th) virtual competition in the Winter. More information about that will be coming soon.

The dates for Quiz Bowl Regionals and States had to be changed. Regionals will now be held on Saturday, February 21st and States will be held on Saturday, March 21st.

Attention High School QB Teams! One of our NCASA high schools, ECG, has partnered with Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School to offer a High School QB tournament on October 4th called the Triad Cup. To register or obtain more information, email Paul Smith, at pssmithbmchs@gmail.com

Quiz Bowl - Regionals: February 21st @TJCA, Rocky Mount HS, Terry Sanford HS, and Southeast Guilford HS (More hosts needed); State: March 21st (Host needed)

Art Showcase / Dance Festival - February 6th–7th (Host Needed)

The Quill - Regionals: Second week of February (students will compete at their own schools); State: February 28th @Seaforth High School

Forensics - Regionals: February 13th @Surrey County l February 14th Charlotte Region @Jay M. Robinson, Triad Region- Host Needed) ; State: March 7th (Host Needed)

Show Choir / A Cappella - April 17th–18th @South Granville High School
