The North Carolina Association for Scholastic Activities held the fifth annual The Quill on demand writing competition today, hosted by Atkins A&T High School. Finishing in first place among high schools with a final score of 87.9 was Northwood High School of Pittsboro. Team members for Northwood High School are Amanda Peele, Frances Beroset, Hudson Moore, and Rachel Crawford.
Finishing in second place was Cleveland High School with a score of 84.3 Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy finished in third with a score of 83.3. Compete standings are shown below:

This was the third consecutive NCASA State Title for Northwood HS in The Quill.
Finishing in first place among middle schools with a final score of 92.5 was JN Fries Middle School of Concord. Team members for JN Fries were Simone McFarlan, Liam Custer, Charlotte Alcon, and Melia Eaton.
Finishing in second place was Jay M Robinson MS of Charlotte with 81.7 points. Finishing in third place with 80.9 points was Carrington MS of Durham. Compete standings are shown below:

This was the first ever State Title for JN Fries MS and the first time ever we have had three individual winners from the same school.
A State Champion trophy was presented to both winning schools. Second and third place trophies were also presented to schools. Trophies were also presented to each individual event winner. Medallions were awarded to each student from the first, second, and third place schools.
