NCASA held the fourth annual The Quill on demand writing competition this past Saturday, March 22, hosted by Atkins A&T High School. Finishing in first place among high schools with a final score of 91.3 was Northwood High School of Pittsboro. Team members for Northwood High School are James Calhoun, Frances Beroset, Jacob Friedman, and Rachel Crawford.
Finishing in second place was Atkins A&T High School of Winston-Salem with 83.3 points. Finishing in third place with 81.6 points was Cleveland High School. Compete standings are shown below:

Jacob Friedman of Northwood HS in the Literary Analysis category.
This was the second consecutive NCASA State Title for Northwood HS in The Quill.
Finishing in first place among middle schools with a final score of 87.3 was Lucas Middle School of Durham (pictured above). Team members for Lucas were Miranda Straubel, Hannah Fogel, and Mary Johnson.
Finishing in second place was Jay M Robinson MS of Charlotte with 84.0 points. Finishing in third place with 74.3 points was Hickory Ridge MS of Harrisburg. Compete standings are shown below:
