2017 WPU NC Show Choir Competition Results

NCASA and William Peace University presented the State Finals of the 2017 William Peace University North Carolina Middle School Show Choir Competition on Saturday, April 29 at William A Hough High School. All competing schools qualified at Regionals in late March.
The event began with the high school division. Shown below are the rankings of all high schools:
1 - William A Hough High School of Cornelius with a rating of Superior and the highest score ever awarded in the show choir competition
2 - Grimsley High School of Greensboro with a Superior
3 - Lake Norman High School with a rating of Excellent
4 - Overhills High School of Harnett County with an Excellent
5 - West Brunswick High School with an Excellent
6 - Kings Mountain High School with an Excellent
7 - Hillside High School of Durham with an Excellent
8 - EE Smith High School of Fayetteville
Hough High School performed songs which included Flashlight, We Will Rock You, and Applause.
We also presented several superlative awards:
Director's Award - Kaliym Harrison of West Brunswick High School
Best Male Solo - Jamal Meyes of EE Smith High School
Best Female Solo - Eva Joy Edwards of Hough High School
Best Male Stage Presence - Chris Williams of Kings Mountain High School
Best Female Stage Presence - Jordan O'Sullivan of Lake Norman High School
Best Combo - EE Smith High School
Best Show Design - Lake Norman High School
Best Choreography - WA Hough High School
Best Group Vocals - WA Hough High School
Best New Choir - Kings Mountain High School
The event ended with the middle school division. Shown below are the rankings of all middle schools.
1 - Jay M Robinson Middle School of Charlotte with a rating of Superior
2 - West Pine Middle School of Pinehurst with a Superior
3 - Seventy-First Classical Middle School of Fayetteville with a Superior
4 - Harris Road Middle School of Concord with a Superior
5 - Randolph Middle School of Charlotte with a Superior
6 - Hanes Magnet School of Winston-Salem with an Excellent
7 - Hickory Ridge Middle School of Harrisburg with an Excellent
8 - Central Middle School of Gates County with an Excellent
Jay M Robinson Middle School performed a medley from The Princess and the Frog.
We also presented superlative awards:

Best Male Solo - Jaden Baksbazen of Jay M Robinson Middle School
