2011 Twelve State Finals Results

The North Carolina Association for Scholastic Activities held the Twelve State Finals Saturday, March 19 in Harrison Auditorium on the campus of North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro, NC. Finishing in FIRST PLACE with a runaway victory was Raleigh Charter High School who tallied 173 points.

Finishing in second place was Myers Park High School of Charlotte with a final score of 121. Finishing close behind in third place with a final score of 113 was Jordan-Matthews High School of Siler City. Also competing in the state finals were Simon G. Atkins of Winston-Salem (97 pts), Randolph Early College High School (70 pts), Wayne Country Day School (67 pts), and Southern Durham High School (62 pts). Trophies were presented to the winner and runner-up schools. Medallions were awarded to each student from the first, second, and third place schools. Pictures of all placing schools are available upon request. The Twelve State Finals is believed to be the largest knowledge-based tournament in the history of North Carolina, with a total of thirteen teams and nearly 200 students participating at the District or State level. In each of the two sessions, twelve students per team answered questions from twelve different topics mostly from the high school curriculum.

Twelve is the second of nine competitions that will determine the best high school in the state. The NCASA Scholastic Cup will be awarded to the high school with the best overall performance among the nine major scholastic competitions in North Carolina. Points are awarded for participation and excellence in the nine NCASA and partner competitions.
