NCASA is pleased to announce Regional winners and State Finals Qualifiers for The Quill!

On October 24, students across North Carolina sat down to computers at their schools to respond to on-demand writing prompts in regional competitions for the state writing competition, The Quill.  Prompts covered the core curriculum types of Argumentation, Problem/Solution, Narrative Writing (middle school), Creative Writing (high school), Informative/Explanatory (middle school), and Literary Analysis (high school).  

Students competed to move on to the December 7 State Final hosted by Hope Middle School.

Regionals divided the state into East and West divisions.  The following schools and individuals advanced to the State Final:

East Regional High Schools:

1 - The Early College at Guilford

2 - Brunswick Early College

3 - Northwood HS

4 - Wayne School of Engineering

5 tie - Northwest Guilford HS / Chatham School of Science

 

West Regional High Schools:

1 - Thomas Jefferson Classical HS

2 - Simon G Atkins HS

3 - Northwest Cabarrus HS

4 - South Iredell HS

5 - Gray Stone Day

Also advancing: Cierra Gursch in Problem / Solution from Crossroads Arts and Sciences

East Regional Middle Schools:

1 - Hanes Magnet MS

2 - Falls Lake Academy

3 - Hope MS

4 - Brown Summit MS

5 - EB Aycock MS

West Regional Middle Schools:
