Show Choir

 

Show choirs first compete in Regionals to qualify for the State Final each year, in the only competition of its kind in the state of North Carolina. 

 

NCASA presented the Triangle and Sandhills Regionals of the William Peace University NC Show Choir Competition on Friday, March 20.

The top middle school at the Sandhills Regional was 71st Classical Middle School of Fayetteville (shown above). They earned an "Excellent" rating and performed highlights from Jersey Boys. Finishing in second place with a Good rating and also advancing to the State Final was Hanes Magnet MS of Winston-Salem.

The top high school at the Sandhills Regional was Overhills High School of Harnett County. They earned a "Superior" rating and performed Royals, For All We Know, and Survivor / I will Survive. Finishing in second place and also advancing to the State Final was West Brunswick High School who earned a rating of Excellent. Also competing was host 71st High School.

The top high school at the Triangle Regional hosted by Corinth Holders High School was Voyager Academy of Durham. They earned an "Excellent" rating and performed a medley from Hairspray. Finished in second place and also advancing to the State Final was Northeast Guilford High School. Also competing was North Pitt High School.

NCASA presented the Charlotte Area Regional of the William Peace University NC Show Choir Competition on Friday, March 13.

The top middle school at the Charlotte Area Regional was Jay M Robinson Middle School of Charlotte. They earned a "Superior" rating and performed a medley from Seussical the Musical. Finishing in second place with an Excellent rating and also advancing to the State Final was Mount Mourne Middle School or Mooresville. Finishing in third with an Excellent rating and also advancing to the State Final was Hickory Ridge Middle School of Harrisburg. Also competing were Randolph Middle School and JN Fries Middle School.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The top high school at the Charlotte Area Regional was Grimsley High School of Greensboro (shown above). They earned an "Superior" rating and performed Best Song Ever, Jet Set, Roots Before Branches, and Shake it Off. Finishing in second place and also advancing to the State Final was Lake Norman High School who earned a rating of Excellent. Also competing were Myers Park HS and Atkins HS.

The Regionals of the 2015 William Peace University NC Show Choir Competition are set. All Regionals will begin at 6:00 PM and are open to the public. Tickets are available at the door for $5 each. Choirs will perform at the times shown below. Awards Ceremony will be 15 minutes after the last choir performs.

The State Finals of the William Peace University North Carolina Show Choir Competition were held Saturday, May 9 at Atkins A & T High School in Winston-Salem. The day began with Voyager Academy of Durham winning the high school division and ended with Harris Road Middle School of Concord winning the middle school division. This is the first show choir state title for both schools.

Harris Road MS performed a "Rhythm of the Night", "Turn the Beat Around", and "We Got the Beat". Voyager Academy (shown below) performed a medley from Hairspray.

The day began with Mitchell High School winning the high school division and ended with Jay M Robinson Middle School winning the middle school division. This is the first show choir state title for both schools.

Jay M Robinson MS (pictured below) performed a choral medley from Newsies. Mitchell HS performed "African Processional", "Africa", "Can You Feel the Love Tonight", and "Waka Waka"

The William Peace University North Carolina Show Choir Competition State Finals were held Saturday, May 4 in the Kannapolis Performing Arts Center. Hunt High School of Wilson and Community House Middle School of Charlotte took top honors and earned Superior ratings.
