NCASA Annual Meeting Highlights

For immediate release:

The North Carolina Association for Scholastic Activities held its First Annual Meeting yesterday at Southern High School in Durham. The following are highlights from the 3:00 meeting:

The NCASA Scholastic Cup was awarded to Myers Park High School of Charlotte.

The following year-end awards were presented:

  • NCASA Superintendent of the Year to Donald Martin of Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools
  • NCASA Administrator of the Year to Thomas Spivey, Principal of Myers Park High School
  • NCASA Scholastic Director of the Year to Kim Kaylor of Newton Conover High School
  • NCASA Coach of the Year to Andrew West, Speech and Debate Coach of Myers Park High School

 

NCASA Sponsors Novel Electronic Designs and Fox 50 were thanked for their support.

In addition to the three competitions presented last year, NCASA will also present the following new programs for 2011-2012:

  • The first ever statewide music competition in North Carolina: The North Carolina Glee Club Competition, presented by Fox 50.
  • Member schools will be grouped into conferences allowing them to participate in weekly Quiz Bowl meets.
