William Peace University NC Show Choir Competition

Show choirs first perform in Regional competitions on March 6, 13 or 20. The top choirs advance to the May 8/9, 2015 State Final in Winston-Salem. The competition is open to middle school and high school show choirs of all experience levels. REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN FOR THE 2015 COMPETITION.

 


William Peace University NC Show Choir Competition - Overview

New for 2014-2015: Many additional awards will be presented in next year's State Final. Here is a summary of the new awards:

  • Best Male Solo Vocal
  • Best Female Solo Vocal
  • Best Group Vocals
  • Best Group Choreography
  • Best Show Design
  • Best Combo (live accompaniment with two or more performers)
  • NEW: Best New Choir
  • NEW: Best Male Stage Presence
  • NEW: Best Female Stage Presence

We expect to present five Regional competitions on March 13 and 20, 2015. Sites and their dates to be determined.

Important Dates for 2014-2015

  • August - Registration opens (Reg close date to be determined)
  • March 6 - Regional - Hickory
  • March 13 - Regional - Northeast & Kannapolis
  • March 20 - Regional - Triangle & Fayetteville
  • May 9 - State Finals at Atkins HS in Winston-Salem

NC Show Choir Clinic

NCASA is proud to announce the first ever 2015 NC Show Choir Clinic hosted by William Peace University! This two-hour clinic on January 24 in Raleigh will enable choirs to receive instruction and feedback from master clinicians who are experienced in show choir adjudication and instruction. Clinic fee is $150 per choir. We are also pairing the clinic with Nice Work If You Can Get It playing at the Raleigh Memorial Auditorium at 2:00 PM. Interested choirs may purchase $25 discount play tickets through NCASA.

A limited number of time slots are available. Registered choirs' reservation and time slot will be held for 7 days while the registration form and payment is mailed to NCASA. Payment must be made in advance to hold your requested time. Additional details and information can be found on the attached registration form. The clinic is open only to NCASA Member schools through October 14. After this date non-member schools may register if any time slots remain.

Mitchell HS and Jay M Robinson MS Crowned Show Choir Champions

The State Finals of the William Peace University North Carolina Show Choir Competition were held Saturday, April 5 at Atkins A & T High School in Winston-Salem. The day began with Mitchell High School winning the high school division and ended with Jay M Robinson Middle School winning the middle school division. This is the first show choir state title for both schools.

Jay M Robinson MS (pictured below) performed a choral medley from Newsies. Mitchell HS performed "African Processional", "Africa", "Can You Feel the Love Tonight", and "Waka Waka"
